Monday Motivation: Choose To Be Awesome

backoffgrumpy copy-500x500As a father of young children I am finding that I often wake up on Monday feeling the need to recover from the weekend.  This morning was extra difficult as I have woke up with a kink in my neck and seem to have tweaked the tendons on the bottom of my foot.  Those tendons are the plantar fascia.  My wife thinks I’m a complete dork for knowing that.

Those were two great reasons not to get my Monday morning run in today.  After hitting snooze about six times starting at 5:00 am and then standing next to my dresser for what seemed like another ten minutes I decided to give it a go.  It took about a mile to wake up but as I ran, my foot and my neck loosened up and by the end of the run I felt great.

It would be ludicrous to think that we could show up to work every day excited, inspired and ready to conquer the world.  That notion is completely false.  It is inevitable that you will show up tired, grumpy, impatient, worried and probably a slew of other negative thoughts and feelings.  In our journey toward awesomeness, sometimes it requires a decision to do the things we know we need to do.  I like the concept of leading our hearts.  You’ll find that more times than not, if you do what you know you need to do, your heart will follow.  Join me today in choosing to be awesome and let me know how you feel about what you accomplished at the end of the day.

  • I just wanted to make mention of some AWESOME customer service I received at Discount Tire in Mira Mesa yesterday. This is ultimately what kept me from attending the bowling event, but my day ended well nonetheless, thanks to Eric! He was extremely friendly, genuine and knowledgeable about the tires and tire maintenance processes. I was misquoted an amount nearly $30 less than the actual total for my tires and he was kind enough to honor that quote. With a smile! He made a choice to be awesome and provide outstanding service. I’m happy to repay him and Discount Tire with a nice Yelp review!
