The Hunt Is On

Especially, when trying to find a dog friendly, budget friendly, larger than a cardboard box place in addition to a responsible and nice roommate.

OY VEY!

I’m starting the search early due to the rushed nature and competition of the market. Speaking of competition, some people, in order to fight for a great place, will wine and dine the tenant to woo them over.

Goodness! What did I get myself into?

I live in Philly and commute to NYC for work at the present moment, hence the reason I’m leaving. 6 hours each day spent on a bus isn’t the best way to pass the time (though I do get lots of naps and reading in).

The world of apartment hunting, especially in a giant metropolitan city, is absolutely fascinating and also dips right into the realm of customer service.

There are some things that I find extremely important when communicating with someone about an apartment:

1. Response Time

How fast does it take them to reply to my messages?

2. Empowering with Information

Is someone writing back answers with no details, such as “Yeah, it’s available.”? Or is someone writing back beginning with more information about the apartment, location, etc.?

3. Tone of Voice

While not everyone is in customer service, you can sometimes tell by the tone of an email what a person might be like.

Okay, maybe I’m being picky and obviously I wouldn’t judge someone just by an email BUT it is definitely something to take into consideration.

On that note, wish me luck to find a place in the city! Have a great day!
