Hot Diggity Dog!

540595_10151494688255060_1382468918_nYou can only ask friends so many times to watch your dog while away. At some point, you just have to go the dog boarding route.

However, if you’re like me, when I picture “dog boarding”, I immediately think of a tiny crate where my dog would be stuck for hours on end in a room full of barking, sad pups, only taken out to go potty here and there.

Guess I’m way out of the loop!

One of my friends recommended Perfect Pooch, a dog boarding facility in Pennsylvania, for my Pekingese, Miso. I checked out their website and sent them an email asking for some basic info.

The email response I received blew me away.

Not only did the response contain pricing info and the basics about their boarding, but it also included specific details about the dog’s “daily schedule”:

From 7:00am until 11:00am, the dogs are outside playing in yards separated by dog size and then again by play-type. At 11:00am, they come inside for midday feed and to rest until 2:00pm. At 2:00pm, they go back outside in the yard to play again until about 7:00pm, when they are fed their dinner and then in for the night. The weekend schedule is also the same, but shortened times since our hours during the week are 7:00am until 7:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays, we are open from 8:00am until 4:00pm.

How many times have we here at CBB stressed the importance of attention to detail? They nailed it!

An initial evaluation is required prior to boarding, so Miso and I headed out to see what was in store.

When you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile immediately. After introducing Miso to them, they took him back to “hang out with the dogs” as I went on a personal tour.

Is there a big room full of crates? Yes. But is it stuffy and cold? No! It’s a bright, large room open with large crates so each dog can move around. The outdoor play areas are clean and full of happy dogs. There’s a human “pack leader” in each area monitoring the dogs and spraying them with hoses, since it’s been so hot. They even have kiddie pools for them to lounge in.

The human “pack leader” I walked with was friendly and answered every single question, covering the human and canine customer experience. She calmed my worried nerves about boarding and how they do it differently to ensure safety and fun for every dog.

How many times have we here at CBB stressed empathy and the importance of values? They nailed it!

Honestly, after seeing this place, I had a feeling Miso would be in paradise and not want to ever come home!

Finally, the day arrives for Miso to start his “vacation”, so I drop him off. It felt strange leaving him, but he strutted down the hallway like he owned the place and I had no doubt I could trust these people with him.

My favorite part was checking Facebook every so often to see pictures from the day. This place is so amazing that they take tons of photos of the dogs having fun and place them on their page for owners to see.

How many times have we at CBB stressed the importance of being unique and different? They nailed it!

The Perfect Pooch definitely has their pups in a row with customer experience:

1. Attention to Detail

2. Showing Genuine Empathy

3. Outlined and Exercised Values

4. Giving a Unique and Different Experience

Overall, you know I’ll be bringing Miso back. In fact, I think Miso is already planning my next vacation just so he can return.

Here’s some photos from his stay:
