Gems of Awesome

jennydempseytattooI’m a quotes girl. I love little snippets of wisdom to get me through the day. Some quotes give me more energy than a cup of coffee.

I write quotes on note paper and hang them around my desk. When I’m working with a difficult customer, I look over at the quote, “Be the spark that unfreezes others.” When I’m feeling down because I made a mistake at work, I see the quote, “Create your best life–live with intent” and am reminded that I am working with the best intentions and will learn from this experience. When I’m feeling afraid of a challenge, I see the quote, “A ship is safe in harbor but that’s not what ships are for.” I could go on and on. I have so many more. I even print out positive feedback customers or fellow coworkers write to me and hang it around my desk. I have a “serious note from the desk of Jeremy Watkin” hanging on my bulletin board. To me, these are little gems in the treasure box of AWESOME (like that?).

I am a huge advocate for keeping positivity flowing and decorating your work space with pictures, quotes, letters, etc. to help encourage that. Having the word “AWESOME” painted on our wall reminds us day in and out that we ARE awesome. How do YOU decorate your desk/office to encourage positivity and motivation? What are YOUR gems of AWESOME?

The quote you see in the image above, “I go to seek a great perhaps” is one of my all time favorites–one that I live by. Perhaps it will be awesome, perhaps it won’t; but, you never know until you try. I’m taking the plunge today and getting this as a tattoo. Wish me luck!

P.S. Dad, if you’re reading this, sorry, yes I’m getting another tattoo (his response to my first two was looking down and shaking his head in sorrow).

Well you know me. I can’t even fathom getting a tattoo but this tattoo looks pretty cool Jenny. Great post today! And for me I’m in a state of transition. I personally love BIG scenery. My picture on my wall paper is a sunset with hot air balloons. I also love looking at my family. I can always look over at my kids and smile. That’s regardless of whether or not they woke me up at 5am.

  • This Definately Helps me get through my day.

    Here’s how I do it:
I keep a clip of every customer Kudos card i’ve ever gotten (Cards are up to 24, plus I think 3 or 4 more missing in my SUV) That averages .7 Kudos each month over 2.5 years of service.
I also keep pictures of the Virtual race cars I have designed using the Phone.com name (Thanks Alon for the permission to use those)
A name tag using a scenery taken from a game for which I skinned one of the online race cars for Phone.com

I also have my Phone.com 1/10 Scale Traxxas RC Car Stock car body sitting on the center device between my desk and a co-worker, Battle scars and all fro it’s last run.

It’s a sign of me at my desk. I might get bored enough to post a picture of the car sitting on the divider.
